Announcement on the initial public consultation of the environmental impact assessment of the PROPOSED ACTIVITY “EXPANSION OF THE PEAT EXTRACTION AREA IN THE KAIGU MIRE PEAT DEPOSIT”.
Title of the proposed activity: Expansion of the peat extraction area in the Kaigu Mire peat deposit.
Proposed by: SIA Laflora, unified reg. No. 40003258598, Jelgavas novads, Līvbērzes pag., “Kaigu kūdras purvs”, LV-3003.

Description of the activity. The proposed activity includes the enlargement of the peat extraction territory in Kaigu Mire by ~ 225 ha. The area of the proposed activity is located in the northern part of the peat deposit. The proposed activity includes changes to the existing activity related to the enlargement of peat extraction fields. After the approval of the planned activity, the total peat extraction area in the peat deposit of Kaigu Mire will be 1013.32 ha. During implementattion of the planned activity, it is planned to use both milled and sod (block) peat extraction technologies, combining them with each other. Planned average peat extraction volumes – 92,000 m3 per year. It is planned to process the harvested peat into high-quality peat products at the SIA Laflora production factory, located in Līvbērze rural territory, Jelgava municipality.
Public consultation. The meeting on the initial public consultation for the proposed action will take place on 3 April 2019 at 17:30, Kalnciema pagasta kultūras nams, Jelgavas iela 15, Kalnciemā, Kalnciema pag., Jelgavas nov.
